Elementary School

Dear Families,

Hello and welcome to HIS Elementary School.

My name is David Westhora, and I am incredibly honored and excited to introduce myself as the new Elementary Principal at Harare International School. It is a privilege to be joining a community known for its strong commitment to international-mindedness, joyful learning, and excellence in education. As an educator and leader, I believe deeply in the power of relationships, collaboration, and creating an environment where every child is seen, heard, and supported in their learning journey.

Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about fostering inclusive, student-centered learning environments where inquiry, curiosity, and creativity thrive. I look forward to learning alongside our students, working in partnership with you—our families—and supporting our exceptional teachers as we embark on this new school year together.

You will feel the difference when entering the beautiful campus with green lawns, giant trees, and friendly bird life. Once you settle into the daily life of a learning community member at HIS, you will know the difference to be true. Waiting each morning under the ‘Big Tree’ to greet our students as they arrive, our students' joy, enthusiasm, and sheer happiness reflect how they experience a profound sense of belonging at HIS Elementary.
