Merit Scholarship Program

• The photo must be a headshot of the applicant from the shoulders.
• This photo must be formatted as .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, or .png extensions. 
• Label your file as “LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_Photo.xxx” Where LASTNAME is your last name without any spaces, FIRSTNAME is your first name, and “xxx” is the extension type of the photo.

• Valid IDs include passport, birth certificate, or National ID card.
• This can be a scanned .pdf file or a photo file formatted as .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, or .png extensions.
• Label your file as “LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_ID.xxx” Where LASTNAME is your last name without any spaces, FIRSTNAME is your first name, and “xxx” is the extension type of the ID.

• If there is a custody agreement in place for the applicant, include a scanned copy of the agreement in one .pdf file.
• Label your file as “LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_Agreement.pdf” Where LASTNAME is your last name without any spaces, FIRSTNAME is your first name.

• Include scanned copies of school records from the last 3 years in pdf format. This includes Form 3 and Form 4 results and results for IGCSE or ZIMSEC, if available. If IGCSE or ZIMSEC reports are not yet available, please email them to admissions@his.ac.zw as soon as they are available, as we are unable to read applications without them.
• All reports must be in order and combined in one pdf document.
  • You can scan your documents using your android phone or iPhone with Google Drive, Notes on iPhone, or another method of your choice.

Include the email addresses and phone numbers of two teachers to complete a confidential reference.

• one from a teacher
• one from a Head of School, form tutor, or Counselor (or a second teacher if none of the above are possible)

• In a 2-3 minute video, please tell our selection committee a bit about who you are and what motivates you. We want an authentic sense of who you are, so please do not speak from a script but rather reflect on what you would want someone meeting you for the first time to know about you.
• The video will be scanned for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Any use of AI will automatically disqualify the candidate from the selection procedure.
• Label your file as “LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_introvideo.xxx” where LASTNAME is your last name without any spaces, FIRSTNAME is your first name, and xxx is the extension of the video file (eg. AVI, MP4, or MOV). 

• Utilising real-world examples from your own learning, please justify what value the concepts of ‘international mindedness’ and ‘global citizenship’ have to you, in a 3-5 minute video.
• The video will be scanned for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Any use of AI will automatically disqualify the candidate from the selection procedure.
• Label your file as “LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME_globalcitizen.xxx” where LASTNAME is your last name without any spaces, FIRSTNAME is your first name, and xxx is the extension of the video file (eg. AVI, MP4, or MOV).

• ‘The HIS mission statement guides all that we do: “A Boldly Diverse Learning Community that Inspires Curiosity, Embraces Challenge, and Nurtures Personal Growth.” Consider your own educational and personal accomplishments to date. Choose one activity that you have been involved with, and explore how you have honed one or more of these areas as a result.
