Merit Scholarship Program

The Merit Scholarship Program offers talented Zimbabwean national students a chance to join our vibrant and diverse learning community, earning admission based on academic excellence and their potential to enrich our school through leadership, athletics, and a commitment to pursuing the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, an unparalleled opportunity in Harare. The Harare International School Merit Scholarship Program application period opens on March 3 and closes on March 25, 2026. Please see the timeline below for more details.
Who can apply?
- Zimbabwean nationals, aged 16 - 17 years
- Students with great scores from their 2025 IGCSE or ZIMSEC
- Students fluent in English with a high standard of written and spoken language
- Students driven beyond academics to be an active member of their community
- Students who are curious, balanced, open-minded, principled and reflective
- Students ready to dive into a multicultural, internationally-minded learning community
BEFORE BEGINNING YOUR APPLICATION, PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY:
- Applications will only be reviewed for the 2025-2026 enrolment year since selected students would begin before the school year at HIS is completed.
- Applications are only accepted for current grade 10 students, aged 16-17 years old.

Scholarship Selection Timeline
- Monday, March 3, 2026: Scholarship applications begin
- Tuesday, March 12, 2026: Informational evening for all interested candidates & parents; attendance is not mandatory
- Tuesday, March 25, 2026: Deadline for SUBMISSION of scholarship applications; all references, documents & videos are to be submitted by this date.
- Friday, March 30, 2026: Deadline to FINALISE scholarship applications
All candidates progressing to the next stage of the process have been notified, as well as all unsuccessful candidates.
- Monday, May 4, 2026: Selection Day
- Wednesday, May 6, 2026: All successful candidates are notified
- Friday, May 8, 2026: All decisions finalised and all candidates notified
- May 13, 2026 - First day of school for Scholarship Students
The HIS Merit Scholarship covers the cost of the following:
- Two years of study in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program
- Examination fees
- Macbook Air (required for studies)
- Stipend for international educational trips
- NOTE: The scholarship does NOT include post-graduate studies.
