The High School at HIS caters for students in their last three years of school, Grades 10, 11 and 12. Through the delivery of a strong academic program, a diverse range of extra-curricular opportunities and personalized pastoral care, we strive to equip the young adults graduating from HIS to live happy and productive lives through their tertiary education and beyond. We encourage students in the High School to think critically, to develop an appreciation for multiple perspectives and a globally minded outlook, to follow their passions and to provide service to others. We know that many of our alumni will contribute to making the world a better place in the years ahead.
Students in Grade 10 will complete their final year of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) which culminates with every student completing a Personal Project to showcase their learning over their first 5 years of Secondary School. Over the course of the year the students will also be guided through the process of selecting their final subjects for their final two year of school. Here is more information on the Middle Years Programme at HIS.
Students in Grades 11 and 12 will focus on the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP), which is a globally recognized high school qualification. Over their last two years of school, students doing the IB Diploma need to study six main subjects, complete an Extended Essay, complete the Theory of Knowledge course and meet their Community- Activity-Service (CAS) requirements. Some students elect to follow a personalized subset of the IB Diploma curriculum and focus on attaining their HIS High School Diploma. Over these last two years, the students will also be guided through their university applications. Here is more information on the Diploma Programme at HIS.
I look forward to working closely with the students and parents at HIS. Please contact me if you have any questions: rhawkins@his.ac.zw.
