Kelly Bauer Bennett has been at HIS since January 2017 and she is in Zimbabwe with the US Embassy. Kelly and her husband, Jason, have two children at HIS – a daughter in the class of 2025 and a son in the class of 2026.

Kelly has a BA in psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an MA in Public Policy and Nonprofit Management from Johns Hopkins University. She began her overseas career in 1997 as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Uzbekistan, then worked in communications and program management for international organizations such as Lutheran World Relief and the American Red Cross. Kelly’s simple goals are to leave the world a better place through every action, large or small, and to foster kindness, generosity, and courage in her family and community.

Kelly has served on the HIS Board of Governors since June 2017, first as secretary, then as chair for two years. Previously, she chaired the board of an international preschool in Bulgaria for four years. She enjoys managing the HIS Aquathlon team and organizing events at school where parents and children can be physically active together. While born in the United States, Kelly and her family have called Australia, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Bulgaria, Zambia, and now Zimbabwe home.
