Kelly arrived in Harare in December 2016 when her husband, Jason, was posted to USAID’s mission in Zimbabwe. Kelly and Jason have two children at HIS.
Kelly earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and Master of Public Policy and Nonprofit Management from Johns Hopkins University. She began her career overseas in 1997 as a Peace Corps Volunteer, then worked in communications and program management for international organizations such as Lutheran World Relief and the American Red Cross.
Kelly served on the board of an international preschool for four years, first as Treasurer, then as Chairperson. She volunteers as a Girl Scout leader and a Red Cross disaster preparedness educator, and she enjoys organizing events like Family Sports Day where parents and children can be physically active together. While born in the United States, Kelly and her family have called Australia, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Bulgaria, Zambia, and now Zimbabwe home.
