Members work towards presenting and participating at the AISA (Association of International Schools ) GISS (Global Issue Service Summit) where they will share best practices and reflect on global problems such as water shortages, environmental degradation, infectious diseases and the loss of ecosystems. The theme for this years summit in Johannesburg is “Phambili -moving forward to face the challenges of the future”.

“There are many different ways to describe GISS, but in the simplest of terms, it is an unforgettable experience where teachers, students, adults, and friends from around the continent come together to inspire one another to take action in their lives.” (Lincoln Community School)

All students at Harare International have some form of swimming coaching, various training exercises, from Grade 3 through to Grade 12. Swimming is part of the morning timetable and an extra-curricular sport in the afternoons, Elementary from 2pm – 3pm and Middle and High from 3:05pm – 4:30pm. Although our main swimming season starts in September, all pupils are involved in swimming lessons during Physical education classes.

Our facilities include a completely fenced 25 meter racing pool with starting blocks, lane ropes, and backstroke flags. Future plans to include a heating system that will see the swimmers continue with their swimming program through the winter season… Students who wish to take their swimming further have the option of joining a Swimming Club of their choice. 2017/18 will see (Highlands) Club use of the pool from Monday to Thursday after school hours (4.45-6pm). The School have a number of qualified swimming coaches who keep updated with swimming trends and techniques.
