The PTO is a volunteer organization that thrives to enhance a sense of community spirit and goodwill at HIS, as well enrich and complement the student learning environment by: promoting communication between home and school, facilitating parental involvement, and strengthens the educational experience by supporting activities, events and projects.
Membership is automatically conferred on any family who has a child enrolled at HIS and all faculty members.
The PTO is a resource for new families settling into a new life at HIS and Zimbabwe.
We aim to foster friendships, information and support networks within each grade that honor our cultural differences and common humanity.
The PTO encourages parents to volunteer in whatever ways fits better for their work and home schedules. There is a lot of evidence that students benefit enormously from seeing parent volunteers engaged in diverse ways at their schools. We will provide many opportunities for parents to volunteer at PTO events.
Some past events have included: Welcome and Orientation Coffee Mornings, Family Fun Day, Movie Night, Pizza Night, Formal Dinner Dance, Golf Tournament, Talent Show, May Day, Staff Appreciation Social Hour and Year-end Braai, Kidzcan Orange Day, Eisteddfod. PTO also supports school-organized events such as UN Day by coordinating the International Food and Cultural Fair.
We host monthly open meetings to which all members are invited and encouraged to attend.
